5 quick questions with Manish Malhotra

As Manish Malhotra’s annual Mijwan-The Legacy show came to a close, Vogue caught up with the veteran designer for five quick questions. After all, it’s never a bad time to chat up the man behind Bollywood’s best dressed.

What is one look from the Mijwan collection you would pick out for a summer bride?

The ghagra with sequins, which not only highlights the thread work and craftsmanship but also looks very beautiful. The crop top and skirts in pink are more apt for weddings, and I would recommend yellow for a sangeet or engagement ceremony.

You’ve focused on Chikankari work through the Mijwan Welfare Society. Any other Indian craft you would love to revive?

The beauty lies in the details and I love Indian crafts and craftsmanship as they are beautifully hand-crafted. With reference to reviving more crafts, you’ll have to wait until my next show.

Your three commandments on acing summer style?
For men it would be something easy like the Bandikurta, and for women it would be a crop top and slim pants in shades of yellow and blue, which are big this summer.

The dream bride you’d love to dress?

I would love to dress Urmila Matondkar.

Your current obsession?

Losing weight.
