Check out Sonakshi Sinha’s brand new hairdo
In her four-year Bollywood stint, Sonakshi Sinha has flaunted her long lustrous locks in different styles–poker straight to soft waves. But here she is, beaming in her Instagram selfie, in a brand new hair avatar: a bob! “The last time I had hair this short was in school,” the actor tells Vogue.
“I’m a very impulsive person. I’ve been wanting to change my hairstyle for the longest time now, but I couldn’t because I was stuck in the continuity of the films I was shooting. One day I woke up and realised I’m done shooting all my films, I only have to promote my next two releases, and the next film I start is in January. I ran to the salon and chopped them off,” Sinha says. “I feel great. Liberated actually. It takes me all of four minutes to dry my hair after a wash.”
In her picture caption, she thanks her hairstylist, Kanta Motwani, who runs Kromakay salons across different parts of the city. “I always feel happy when a celebrity sits on my chair and says she wants to go short and I think—wow, now the trend is going to change,” says the hair expert. Motwani believes that the younger lot in the industry has a real power to change people’s perceptions on trends, and it’s almost like a social responsibility to keep changing their hair.
Sinha’s picture on Instagram already has over 23,000 likes. After Sinha tweeted about her new look, most of her fans loved it. For that one per cent who didn’t, the Dabangg actress says, “First the response was of disbelief, because nobody thought I would do something so drastic. Then it was acceptance. They love it. And everyone agrees that it was a much required change and if I can pull it off then why not?”

When Motwani told her that a lot of Indian men love long hair, she told her hairstylist, “They’ll just have to get used to it.”
“It’s [the cut is] not for the faint hearted,” Motwani adds. As long as you’re confident and bold, it doesn’t matter what your face shape or size is. Just go for it.”
