How to: Dress For a Sangeet

While the bride would have had months of preparations (and a bigger budget) to get her Sangeet outfit ready, you might not be as lucky. To ease you into the wedding season, we asked designer Nachiket Barve four tips on to look your fashionable best when you are heading for a night long dance fest complete with Bollywood tunes.






1: Dress your age and personality. 

“Wear something that’s comfortable,” says Barve.  “Opt for something light-weight and maneuverable,  which you can dance in twirl in and which won’t weigh you down,” suggests the designer. recommends embroidered net anarkali by Manav Gangwani

 2: Colour.
“In a sea of gold and bling it’s nice to do a pop-up colour which instantly uplifts your mood as well as lights up the room. Opt for deep crimson, emerald or even fuschia.” recommends embroidered silk anarkali by Manish Malhotra

 3: Wear a statement piece.
“Add something to take your look to a level beyond so it becomes memorable by wearing your accessories in a new way such as wearing your polka necklace as a headband,” recommends the designer. recommends pinning the vintage Lace Earrings by Bochic on your hair for some old-world charm

 4: Be graceful and let the bride have her day.
“Don’t try to upstage the bride. It’s essentialy her day and you can have many more sangeets in the future.  If you know that the bride plans to keep her sangeet look simpleopt for a simple salwar kameez and minimum jewellery.
