New eyeliners to love
Whether the classic winged eye is the only make-up trick up your sleeve, your go-to look is the lived-in smudged eye, or you’re game for experimenting with bold graphic looks, every make-up bag needs a good eyeliner.
These are the ones that made the cut.
The Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil (Rs 1,576) and the Burberry Eye Definer (Rs 1,708) are both creamy formulas that let you draw on a thick, dark line without dragging or tugging on the skin. Korres Eyeliner Pencil (Rs 950) and butter LONDON Union Jack Black Eye Pencil (Rs 1,424) deliver on colour consistency too.
For those who don’t like pencils that need to be sharpened, L’Oréal Paris has a new kajal launching next month called the Kajal Magique (Rs 225). For liner that stays put for hours, try M.A.C’s Technakohl (Rs 1,100) and Chanel’s Stylo Yeux Waterproof (Rs 2,039).
To create smoky eyes in one step, Clinique Quickliner For Eyes (Rs 1,200) has a little sponge on the other end to help soften any sharp lines.
Liner + Highlighter
The Revlon PhotoReady Kajal Intense Eye Liner + Brightener (Rs 395) has black kohl on one end and a white pencil on the other, useful when you want to highlight the lower waterline.
Precision brush strokes
Stila’s High Shine Liquid Vinyl Eye Liner (Rs 1,385) has a thin, precise brush that lets you paint on precise lines or build up to thicker strokes. L’Oréal Paris’s Super Line Black Lacquer has a sponge-tipped pen; better to create thick flicks with and dries quickly enough to leave fewer opportunities to smudge.
Both the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner (Rs 1,540) and the Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Gel Eyeliner (Rs 1,600) promise to stay in place, through all kinds of weather, for anywhere between 12-15 hours. Inglot’s AMC Eyeliner Gel (Rs 850) gives you a matte finish and doubles up as eye shadow.
The Body Shop Metallic Eye Definers (Rs 550) are party perfect, and the intense metallic sheen really helps put your eyes in focus. From Urban Decay’s Ocho Loco 2 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Set (Rs 3,715), the neutrals are great but the clinchers are their acid brights in teal, violet and green.
You don’t need to be particularly brave to play with coloured eye liners, but the Maybelline Hyper Glossy Liquid Liner (Rs 225) in orange and Lancôme Artliner 24H (Rs 1,650) in teal need a quirkier personality to pull it off. For the demure, there’s YSL Eyeliner Baby Doll (Rs 2,141) or the Lakmé 9to5 Impact liner for an iridescent shine.
