TARUN TAHILIANI SHOWCASES IN HYDERABAD
Master of drapes, Tarun Tahiliani gave us a remarkable visual treat as he showcased a specially curated-n-handpicked collection for men and women at Taj Krishna Hotel, Hyderabad recently. The delightful show acknowledged his famous bridal couture pieces as well as a few from his latest Spring summer’15 collection ‘Singh Twins’.
The fashion rendezvous was an aplomb display of his contemporary signature style and unique Indian aestheticsm which has played in his favour for years now. Through his SS14 Singh Twins, Tarun revived the technique of miniature painting in blue orange hues of a macaw, reds and yellows of the rising sun beautifully juxtaposed with modern iconography giving birth to vibrant and detailed art questioning the conventional notion of the arts. We saw a major drag of unconventional dhoti skirts, lungi skirts, lehengas and sarees for women to bandhgalas, Mughal bundis and Jodhpurs for men sheathed in splendour and aura. Tarun’s bridal and couture line reflects today’s Global Indian proudly embracing her cultural inheritance as well as straddling the diaspora of modern living.
On speaking about showcasing his collection in Hyderabad, Tarun Tahiliani said: “I am happy to showcase my collection in Hyderabad again. We love the city and draw inspiration from the culture the people display. As the wheel of fortune turns and the powers of the world get reshuffled, ‘taste’ is not the monopoly of royalty anymore. The collection this time is a mélange of modern fabrics, drapes and colours that reflects the modern day aesthete who is a perfection-seeking curator with impeccable taste. We have received a lot of love from here in the past and hope that continues.” He also added, “We are showing a specially curated collection from the Singh Twins, Fall Festive and the magic of drapes in rustling Kanjeevarams, Tarun Tahiliani for Azva highlights each ensemble beautifully. I am happy to associate with Azva by World Gold Council for this collection of hand crafted bridal gold jewellery.”
